Default What TDS Mixing RO and tap

I know this has probably been beat to death but, I have a 250 gallon with pool filter sand drift wood and amazon sword, anibias, java fern growing well. I mix 80% RO with 20% tap(we’ll water pretty hard). MY question is should I use the TDS or PH as an indicator for my mixture being correct?
After a 40 gallon WC the PH starts at 7.4 then settles at 8.0 after a day. Every time. The TDS is 240-260.
I use straight RO for my top off water. This is a dual overflow tank with sump.
I plan to add 6-8 discus but want to be sure before I buy them.
    Thanks.

Liz mean before putting it in your tank. lol I would use TDS as an indicator and I would premix the tap and RO. I use a 120 gallon tank for aging for my 230.
