I use a cleaver and chop it up into 1/2" sided cubes. You may have to slightly thaw it first. Keep that in the freezer and toss in cubes every time I need to feed.

I have 2 Hugh blocks of beefheart. One that was a given to me when a purchased some breeders. Home made. Other store purchase. These blocks get impossible to break off too frozen... I tried to put some in a zip lock bag and keep thawed but when thawed how long can it be kept.. 2 weeks? A month?....
What are some ways you guys do this? Thanks

At my age, everything is irritating.
Ice pick/screw driver +hammer?
Usually I make it very thin in zip-lock bags so I can use my finger to break it easily.
Water change is not just a chore, it's my life now...
Yes I usuallly make mine thin enough to break off with fingers, but last batch a few packs were a little thick.so needed knife to cut it. I won't make that mistake again. So with the thicker flat packs I partially thaw it and cut it into chunks and then back in the baggie.

I take a knife and slice tiny slivers off so the Discus think it’s bloodworm!

Willie is that pure BH or do you make a mix?
The muscle fibers in the heart are very tough, and your fish may have some difficulty chomping it down. I would recommend processing the beef heart into a slurry or puree, then putting that into a ziploc bag for freezing. Dont make the bags to thick as it will be difficult to break off for feeding time. I usually aim for 1/4 inch thickness, and I have no problems chopping pieces off with a kitchen knife.

I use a ice cube tray like this. Freeze then either feed out of the tray or empty the tray into a ziploc and keep frozen.
