Default Just picked up my Discus from Kenny, and WOW!!!

I live about 1 hour North of Kenny and drove down yesterday in pouring rain to personally pick up my fish.

    All I can say is

    1. What a great guy Kenny is. Patient, friendly and answered every question I had.
    2. The fish are astounding.

After acclimating the fish and releasing them into my tank, I left them alone and with the lights off for around 4 hours. Went out to dinner and came back, and they were all out and about, exploring the tank and plants.

i will have more to say in a subsequent post, but I and over the moon with the sheer quality and beauty of Kenny's fish.

A few pictures of some of my new fish in my 200 gallon fully planted tank.

Thanks; I had about 5 months before my tank arrived, so I over planned it... :-)

I use root tabs for the plants. They all came from a previous tank and they are all MONSTER sized... Three of them are over 30" tall; the previous tank had potting soil as a substrate, covered in 2" of pool sand. That stopped the soil from messing up and coloring the water, but provided a TON of nutrients for the plants.

In this new tank, I decided to keep the substrate as simple as possible (being ultra cautious since I have no data on how a soil substrate might adversely affect Discus if it leached through the sand), so I am doing root tabs to keep the plants healthy. They definitely don't like the 84 degree water temps as much as they liked the 77 degrees in the old tank they came from.

No CO2 either, since the real focus of the tank is healthy Discus; the plants are secondary to the fish, and if the plants suffer a bit, I'm OK with it to keep the Discus happy.
