I sure hope so, Al. Mom ate a bunch of eggs through the cone. Next time I'll use one of Barb's cones. They are narrower than the one I used this time. Sad is still guarding the rest of the eggs. I'm going to leave the female in and see what happens. She is darkening up which is a good sign. If she eats the kids when they free swim, the pair will spawn again. I'll be sure to take her out when I put the next cone of eggs in.
Mama Bear
Apparently the eggs were easier to get to through the cage than I thought. I have wigglers now and dad has moved most of them to the sponge filter. I took the cage off the cone so he can move the rest. This is getting exciting!
Mama Bear
Sweet!! I hope you can get your computer sorted out soon to load pics or vid...
This is getting exciting What is happening now Liz?

Your discus are talking to you....are you listening
They're still guarding and fanning them on the sponge filter. I'm glad he moved them there because Angel babies drop off the cone rather than swim away like Discus babies. I know that Discus babies fall off as well, but they start swimming soon after. Angel babies spend a day or two on the ground. The Discus would get frustrated trying to stick them back and have them not stick.
Mama Bear
This morning the babies started to free swim. They're scooting around the bottom as baby Angels do at this point. They haven't recognized the Discus pair as a food source yet. At this age they don't even accept BBS so their behavior is perfectly normal. Angel babies must have some food still left in their egg sack at first. I'll be watching and let y'all know when they attach.
Mama Bear
Oh man thanks for sharing this. It’s the next best thing to breeding my own only a lot less work! I’d love to see pics of this too.

...cool beans there Liz.....I've used foster pairs of angels before with good result...note that not many angel pairs foster well, but when/if you find a pair that does....cherish them for they work magic

Patty, I have pics on my camera. I'm just unable to get my memory card to talk to my photo editing software.
Mug, I have enough trouble trying to get my Angel pairs to raise their own kids. Now it's no big deal. This Discus pair is golden.
Mama Bear
Mug, how long does it take for the babies quit bouncing around the bottom of the tank and start seriously? I never really kept track of that before. It seems like it takes a day or so.
Mama Bear
..usually wigglers in 48hrs...free swim 5/6 day from spawn
