Default Flukes in pea size Discus

These are the baby Discus that I removed from their parents as soon as the fry cared more about BBS than they did their parents. They are pea size in body. Larger if you include the fins. Let's just say that although a few of them are rounding up, most are more elongated than fry are when they start looking like little Discus. They have been growing fast.

I went down and gave them a hard look this afternoon. It could be because they are swimming in a sea of BBS. but I noticed a lot of flicking against the heater cord. If the flicking is not due to not the sea of BBS how should I treat these babies? I have Quick Cure and PP. The quick cure contains formalin and malachite green. PP is a strong oxidizer. I'm afraid of even a low dose of it with babies so young.

As an aside, I cleaned up the parents for worms, which I don't think they had, and hex, which although they did not show symptoms, they likely had. I did not PP them. I should have, but they showed no symptoms so I didn't think of it.

My first thought is the obvious: try a water change and see if it continues. I had a problem with a pair at one point, but never tried to medicate fry. Just cleaned them up and started over. Salt might be an option.

I'll try more though WC They are in a 10 so they're crowded but not over crowded. I've just been doing 2 WCs a day and only once of them is 90%. I'll start giving them a 3rd. You're right, Steve. More good clean water is always the first thing anyone should go with first. It's amazing. I've been around here almost sine the beginning of time and here I am thinking of medicating rather than more good water. I should be ordered to sit on the stool in the corner of the room and have a "Dunce" hat put on my head.

BTW, thanks for the good advice.

No need to go to the corner. Sounds like you've been changing plenty of water. I just had to say that, you know. For me, I think the fluke problem showed up as the sudden "one month die-off," not really flicking.

I have not use any medication since 2012
but when I had any fluke problems I change 300 per cent daily.
Using a diaton filter will pick up some of
the fluke also the use of fluke tab can help

I freaked out over nothing. I was right when I said that I might have put too many BBS in and it was irritating to them. They are totally fine this morning.

Better overreact rather than underreact, the only motto with animals in my opinion.

    Glad they’re ok
