Default Is it fungus? What do I do?

    Hello everyone,

Can you please take a look at one of my discus fish's pics and give me some advice?

    First, my discus tank info:

For 90-gallon tank, 7 discus fish

    Filter: fx6 Fluval

Other equipment: two eheim 400 air pumps, water heater

    Water temp is 84,5 F

Decor: a thin layer of gravel on the bottom (about one inch or less), driftwood, a few anubiases on rocks.

WC: every 2-3 days I do 50% water change and always clean all the gravel. I use tap water, of course, I always use Prime.

    All water parameters are fine.

I am concerned about this red melon discus. It seems that he injured one of the scales on his side and now it looks like he has fungus on it.

There is a breeding pair in the tank, and a male from the pair and this red mellon guy are constantly fighting with each other. Maybe this is how he was injured.

Also, I don't like the condition of his pelvic fins. They getting shorter and shorter and sometimes he shakes them, and when he does, it looks like he is trying to shake something off them.

Other than that everything is fine, he eats well, very active, all other fish are fine too.

I didn't use any medication yet.

I have paraguard, general cure, and I ordered API fungus cure.

What would you recommend me? Should I use any meds?

I was thinking about a hospital tank, but I'm not sure that it's a good idea. I think it might stress him.

    Thank you!

Looks like one of those pimples discus get from poor water quality. However, you say your parameters are well. Can you up the water changes? Me personally, I wouldn’t medicate for that.

I agree with Mando. Try increasing the water changes and maybe add about 2-3 tbs salt per 10 gallons then let us know if you seen an improvement.

Thank you for your recommendations. How do I put general cure in food? Can I soak live blackworms in it?

Hi Vera, please try what Brian suggested before using medication. We have seen this before and generally water changes fix the issue. You mention that your water parameters are fine. Could you please measure and post your nitrate measurement.

Don't over think this. These pimples go away rather quickly. Medication will provide unnecessary stress.
