Whenever fish get stressed they eventually get sick from a internal parasite. Metro is safe with fish. It's precautionary . Dosing metro when you see them not eat or poo strings is kinda being late to the game. Watch them closely and good luck. Most discus owners eventually dose mertro when they figure it out.

Little secret....LFS dose their fish food with metro all the time...but they never tell you they do that. They tell you they are healthy , so you buy the discus. Thats why discus need more metro than what's recommended. They know that...that's why metro is 15 bucks in their stores. I know a high quality store that does this. Was told by one of there workers. He wasn't really supposed to reveal that.

Probably too general a statement. Just because one worker mentioned this doesn't make it true for all LFS.

I'm sure you can get away with 84 , maybe 82 .....they thrive in warmer temps and fight of diseases with their elevated immune system

He said they want to keep them healthy and avoid a break out...he said they do this with all the fishes in the store. I was stunned, never knew that about the best store in town...place is known for high quality "healthy" fish. Not all stores do this , but I wouldn't be surprised...

Many folks get along just fine using 82. If you are having issues perhaps there is something else happening with your fish.
