For over a year I was sure that my home bred high bodied blue spotted snake skin had fertility problems. I had him in with a Chicago Discus Classic Blue Leopard and the eggs fungsed time after time.

A lot of water has passed under the bridge from then, over a year ago, until now. I finally put the Chicago Discus female in with a male of the same strain (likely her sibling). They spawned for the first time 2 days ago. She put down the eggs and he followed fertilizing them. The eggs are all fungusing. It was just their first time and although I think that everything was right, something might have gone wrong that I don't know about. I will let them try again, but it would be interesting if all this time I had been putting the blame on the wrong fish.

Liz, were you ever able to pull the eggs and try the meth blue hatching method? I remember talking about it but Cant remember if you tried it to see if the eggs hatch better.

Where is the male now? Maybe you could set him up on a new mate date? That would be interesting!

Unfortunately, the Chicago Discus fish is the only female I have. The home bred male is in a 75 with his dad the domestic RSG. I gave them a big tank because they are both males. After a bit of posturing for a day or so they started getting along just fine.

I never bought into the fact that females can lay bad eggs. Not sure if that's possible. Problem is with water or the male...Bill

I always aggreed with you until today, Bill. Today the pair spawned for the third time and the eggs turned white. Jim
