Bill unfortunately the sponsorships and homesteads are not reliable revenues anymore. They help but they are not what they used to be. Many sellers prefer facebook to sell their fish now unless someone is looking for a community to belong to, sponsorships are not as attractive any more. The forum also used to raise decent amount of funds through google adsense ads. When people click on the ads it generated a small commission of sorts. But now in the age of Ad blocker software and just people being de-sensitized to ads, that revenue stream has literally dried up.

In the past I have always covered any shortcomings out of my pocket. This past year honestly has been horrendous for me. Every spare dime I have has to go to family issues I am dealing with. I can't do what I have always done anymore. Its just not possible. I need members to help here if they can . If they can't, I understand. I will do the best I can with what I have . There are options and choices I need to make and this fund raiser will help me make those decisions. There are things I have to do and others I want to do.

Whenever and whatever you can send is fine, I can't imagine what your rescues run you alone and know you have much on your plate.. thank you.

I really want everyone to understand that this is voluntary. Its something if you want to contribute to the forum, this is one very good way., but only if you can do so and want to. That donate button just tends to get neglected here on the forum and I can't stress that enough that its an important part of what brings the forum to everyone. Please use it when you can but only if you can. You definitely need not take out a mortgage to use it. You would be surprised at home small amounts can add up over time.

It would be a pleasure, as some have already said you have created a forum that has enabled many of us to enjoy becoming discus-keepers and avoid the pitfalls that would have cost us far more.
As for our rescues, the dogs alone get through 100 kg of dry food every week, we are not a charity and it all has to come out of our pocket.

I'm in for $50. This forum has consistently provided not only entertainment for discus nuts, but top notch, quality discus information and links for so many years. I can't begin to count how many times I've searched through the threads for a solution to a particular issue that has helped me out enormously...a real resource treasure that I am happy to contribute to!

I'm sure it's enough to run the forum, but that's just it. However, take into consideration all the experiments Al has been talking about. It takes money to do even the most basic research. The only thing I want to know is, where would this money go? I'd like to sit back and say "I played a role in this research," or if it's to beef up the medical section with more experienced personnel, etc. But I need to know where I'm helping so that I can gauge what I'm donating.. Regardless, I sent in my donation of what I think is fair. I would have paid a lot more to cure my discus, and the forum helped me for free.

I'd love to help develop more unicorns.
