Yes, Filip - it worked out more or less as I expected.
Still not sure though, how exactly to use the re-sizing 'paint' facility (e.g. significance of pixels) - and don't know precisely the range of pic sizes which the forum's photo icon will accept.
Can you elaborate on this in words an illiterate computer user like me will understand ?

I think that preset 800x600 photo size would be big enough for forum viewing and yet pretty lightweight for the forum server , so I will try and aim for that pixel size if I do the resizing .

Thanks Filip - I'll check that out.
Forgive my ignorance, but does 800X600 indicate pixels ? -
And what size would that equate to, as it would show up in a forum reply box, in inches, say -(e.g. 8 inches X 4 inches.),
or is that not the manner in which to approach it.

Yes Paul it represents width x hight in pixels and it equates about 10 inch width x 8 inch of height.
Once you resize it your photo will have this dimensions , but the forum software may automatically resize it even further to fit to the screen in the post.

if you get out a magnifying glass and look at your computer screen you will see the little rectangles, that is a pixel

the more pixels in your image, the more you can zoom in without it getting blurry (or pix-elated)

most sites make you put a smaller version up of the photo to save them on storage space.
