Lost for words
These two Great Blue Herons in the process of courtship and nest building. It was a cold, windy morning at Viera Wetlands when I found these two fairly close. I hope to visit them often so see they raise their offspring should they get that far.
Female waiting for the male to return with a stick.
Tidying the Nest
He arrived without the stick
Where's the stick
Just me Honey, no stick!
That's ok sweetie, I love you without the stick!
Mutual grooming seems to strengthen the pair bond

Invitation of the female for mating.
Invitation to the Male
Up to the male to accept, in this case he didn't
Time to Decide
She starting to rearranging the nest and it's like he is hugging her.

Wow !
I must say that your use of the textures for these photos is brillant!
Would you mind sharing how you achieve such a nice effect? (Feel free to go into details or not )
I second that wow!

Hi Thomas, I am still pretty new at this and I am using textures in photoshop. I try to use textures to enhance the colors found in the image and use layer masks to either add or remove color as needed. I adjust the opacity of the texture determine the overall effect of the texture on the image. I will use either all or part of the texture depending on how it overlays the original image during the transform step. I have used up to four textures per image and then play with them until I like what I see. It is all very subjective and requires a fair amount of playing around to see what you like.

Very nicely done Pat. because of the textures used in the background I would print these on canvas, linen, or muslin.
