    Default Striped Alenquer

I recently purchased a Striped Alenquer because it resembled the wild discus that I used to raise. I wonder if the Striped Alenquer were allow to rebreed, inbreed, over time would the strain revert back to it's wild root? In breeding did not work for the Egyptians back in the day but are fish different in this regard?

Inbreeding is fine but I don't think it will revert back to wild root. Unless if you keep breeding the offspring to pure wild Alenquer to few generations. And also that will take years of breeding them.

Usually the f3 will have some fish looking much like
their grandparents this is call the Mendel's Law. I know
breeders feel that after a couple of generations they
are able to fix the color but chef's surprise.
