Thanks Joe!
This is a local pet store discus. It’s changed color a few times. Was more black than blue just about a month ago.8641E94C-CD0D-429E-B408-71F98AF9CAD6.jpg. This is a Hans pigeon snakeskin. It’s almost a neon orange.D50A635B-7BB0-4134-91C9-A37140F8097B.jpg
Looks like a Kenny fish to me. If so Forrest has them but they are not seen very often. If it is the Ica Red then here is some useless knowledge for you. HR Axlerod originally named it the 'Dale Jordan Brown' back in the day. As time pasted I suspect that for marketing reasons the Ica Red label sounded flashier.
Atm without discus, this is my fav fish, Vieja Hartwegi. She doesn't play nice with others though, lol

Wonderful Heckels, Pat. So many of the Heckels that I see have the striation. Yet I seem to have one that has nothing. Heckel bar and only sometimes tan or sometimes grey with some black on the fins. I have been searching for photos on the internet of one like it but have found nothing so far. Your Heckels are very nice are they wild cross?

Lordy Lordy, Pat. One of these days your pics will make me buy some of your fry when you get some. You have the most beautiful wilds. How did that blue one manage to get such a high body? I've never seen that in a wild fish.
Mama Bear
Beautiful Heckels Pat. Do you think it is diet or something to do with the soft acidic waters that keeps the blue in the wild? Or do they fade as they age in the wild also?
I really do not know Danny. I can tell you the four wild heckels I received from Peter Low at the 2018 NADA NJ show have grown but faded. Bring them back into a lite tank restored some of the blue. For the future I will be playing with water and diet and see how the fish respond.
