Cool Looking for Heater Recommendations for a 75 gallon tank.

So right now I have two Fluval M300 heaters. But they seem to not be doing the trick. They do heat up the tank when the heat is on in the house. But I do want keep the heat to my house on all day. I have moved the water flow closer to the heaters to see is that works. Was thinking of the Fluval E300, Eheim Jager, or the Aqueon Pro . IDK just want something that work well for my discus tank.

I use Finnex HMO or HMX (the newer model) and have been extremely pleased. I use two 150w in my 55g and two 200w in my 75g. Both are monitored with a Blueline Heater Controller for each tank. Besides being very accurate, the Finnexes are super easy to adjust temperature with using the external heater controls. The Blueline keeps the tank from overheating should a malfunction occur. I also have temperature alarms in each tank.

I had problems until I went with a temp controller. I use this one. No problems with temp or my two 200w eheims.

If u r asking me abt which model......I use both of them currently. The HMO is being replaced with the HMX. Both work just the same except the newer HMX has a heater guard built around the Titanium heater unit. See pic.

Can you run to heaters at the same time or just one at a time night and day mode? Ty fljones3

Go with a cheap heaters like the WON heaters at Jehmco and a heater controller. If I had only one tank that's what I would do.

I always run two heaters per tank. That way, if one should stop putting out heat, the other will pick up the slack until I notice the next day. Btw.....both running heaters in each tank are set to the same temps....they kinda work together and don’t stay on for long. Together like that, it seems as though the water temperature is more uniform. These heaters are not too costly either......great units for the price. Next time I build a sump, I’ll make it roomier so I can put the heaters there. No ideal room now really w the bioballs section, refugium section, and algae scrubber section.

No matter the brand u choose.....do buy an extra heater or two. One never knows when a sudden need arises.....most surely during some holiday when places are closed or there’s no mail due to weather.

I have them horizontal on the bottom in the back. Both on at the same time. Thatís how this particular controller works. I set the heaters on max. Then the temp controller turns them on/off at the same time. I run two in case one does bad I donít lose heat in the tank. Hope this helps.

edit: btw, if you do the above setup leave enough room from the back glass so the discus can get to the food that loves to gravitate towards my heaters.

Or if you need to quickly set up another tank, QT or hospital.
