That's the truth, Francis. I decided that battle was not one I wanted to fight. I admit that Cary had the most beautiful butter colored yellows, once. I haven't seen any that good for a long time. They don't stay yellow for long.

This was my royal yellow. Fed only FDBW and home made deer heart mix. Kept his sharp yellow beautifully! I miss him.

Hey, don't be sorry. That info could help him maintain or improve the yellow. Your fish is extremely yellow, Danny. I bet you miss him.

Very hard to enhance yellow discus.....this question has been asked a hundred times by hobbyists and hardly got any response back ....to my understanding by adding these spirulina powder/yellow peppers/mussels/marigold pedals /yellow snap peas, corn are the most well known yellow carotenoids.some people may add carophyll yellow to their diet.Liz please enlighten me.

Thanks Liz! I miss him for sure.
I actually think genetics are the main ingredient. The royal yellow pictured above was fed nothing but plain ground deer heart with no additions, just plain heart. 6 mths later I added Al's FDBW's. His color was bright and vibrant the whole time I had him and I never used any additives that enhanced yellow pigment. He was a PB strain so he had black in his finnage but as you can see his body was rock solid yellow.
I saw him just yesterday at the blokes house that bought him from me and he was partly orange from being fed commercial foods containing astaxanthin.
If Kenny should have an Albino Millennium Gold variety for sale this variety has a strong yellow coloration. Zeaxanthin and lutein are well known yellow carotenoids. They’re present in the yellow vegetables like corn (maize) and yellow variety of snap beans and the yellow form of bell peppers. They’re also found in egg yolk, a binder that’s often used in home made fish food recipes.
You might try adding egg yolks and yellow peppers and yellow snap beans to your home made food to bring out the yellow color.
