After doing some checking on Malachite Green, I would not use it because it can stain badly, which is also why I do not like acriflavine. That would be the only problem I can see with MG.

MG is hard on plants too.But my first to go for med for 50 years,especially in QT tanks.

I actually do use MG as a med in the form of Clout as one of my first lines as well.

I find that using mg, mb, aciflavine that the dye keeps
bleeding from the cones and slate. As far as the HP
can't tell because its colorless. Better use of PVC this has no bleeding of dye, only problem I think the
Discus like to lay their eggs on spawning cones
or slates.
