    Default pre-filter for fx6 needed?

So my intake for fx6 and AC110 is near one side of the tank. Do you think I'll need a prefilter for both of them with 10 discus and some other fish on a 135gallon? If so, what do you guys use as a prefilter for the fx6 as the intake is large? I was thinking either wrap a nylon sock around it, or open up the intake cage and stuff a sponge in there?

You can use the eheim sponge prefilter on the intake of your FX 6 . You can also buy a round sponge or filter floss and wrap it around the intake cage.

I always prefilter everything. My view is that the prefilter is pure mechanical filtration where the sump or canister filter is biological filtering. The Prefilter I pull out and clean almost every water change because I'm trying to remove whatever crap (or food) the prefilter is holding before it rots away and causes Ammonia that he biological would need to deal with it.

Way over designed, too expensive and more of a pain to clean.
All you need is a sponge/reticulated foam
