Default Super hard water, RO mixing PH issues

    Hi,
So my water is very hard 450tds+ ph 7.6 out of the tap and 8.5+ after degassing, GH 28.
My issue is no matter what ratio I mix my RO to tap water at the PH is still 8+ after degassing. I just mixed up 24L RO to 1L HMA and i'm still getting a PH of 8
My tds out of the RO 7 and the ph is 6.4/6.5

What shoudl I try next to get a reasonable PH?

Hi Andyking, are we talking domestic or wild discus? Both domestic and wild discus can handle a ph of 8. I have my wilds currently at 8.2. Back to your question and remember your KH figures into this. Try mixing a ratio of 80% tap to 20% RO, age it and then measure. You will need to play with the mix until you get your desired ph. BTW welcome to SimplyDiscus.

KH on the API test kit is 18
I've got 200ml HMA water and 800ml RO water mixed and I've got an air pump going through not to speed the ageing process. Starting PH was 7.2
I've also just tested my calibration solution and the pen is reading exactly as the calibration solution says.

So after that short time with the air stone in the PH of the water is now 8.4, so just over 20 minutes and it's well over what I'm comfortable with.

I only have an inline tds meter so I cant test the mixed water.
The KH of the 80:20 is 5
