The secret to learning how to fly is this, you must throw yourself at the ground and miss.

Wow I watched the whole thing before I knew it lol

It's good to see these guys behavior and compare to my own batch. They loved pecking each other for no reason all the time. Ah discus, never change

Hi Shan, there is always a reason even if it seems random to our eyes. The fish generally peck for dominance (pecking order) and when in breeding mode there is gender based dominance. Plus there is other communication which is both subtle and fascinating.

Sweet Pat...do you have a preference for the eye color of the female? Or you just gonna let the whole play out naturally and see who does the biz with who? Does it look to be a female heavy group to you?

I do Danny but I prefer to let the fish decide who they wish to partner up with. The royal male has a heavy preference of the gold eye female and she is the dominant fish in the tank. The red eye female wants in on the action so she keeps trying and the male will bow with her. The group is not female heavy.

The funny thing is the whole tank is getting randy. Thinking of adding another cone on the other side of the tank.

Thanks for the reply Pat...get that harem going girl, lol...progeny of any pairs there would be beautiful. Is there an eye color that is dominant with regards to genetics? As in if a red eye & gold eye bred would the progeny have more chance of 1 eye color over the other? Cheers Pat

No clue Danny. Their mom was red eyed and dad was golden eyed. Of the 16 fry I got from Al I am seeing 50% red and 50% gold.
