Default Which is the better measurement / tank size

    Hi,

    Between 60 x 24 x 24 and 72 x 24 x 20 (both are about 150g), which would be the better tank for discus?

    Thank you

Disclaimer to my shrink: I'm just asking question on the forum. I'm doing well with my MTS therapy session! Believe me!

This is really a personal preference question. I would prefer the 60 x 24 x 24. I love the 24 inch height and width.

I would prefer 6 feet long over 5 feet.It gives them more horizontal swimming room and a little more elbow room for territory. Either tank would be welcome here though if it was free.

The six footer will help your armpits stay drier, as you won't have that far reach.. Like the 60" tank you are mentioning, I had a 48X24X24 years ago.... You definitely got wet cleaning towards the back as it's a far reach.

I would do the 6 footer, more surface area for better gas exchange.

    Thank you all for replies

It's a hard decision since both 6 footer and 24" height have their own benefit......

(Would be a bit funny if I ended up with 72x24x24.)

    Cyrus,
If we are going to dream let’s go for a 96 X 24 X 24. That makes a really nice statement!

A 180 is a great size tank. I had one as my first large tank and loved it.
