Any ideas?
So one of my discus has something strange going on with its gills. any advice would be great.
All of my other discus's gills fully cover the side of the face to the body, however on this female the inner gill is exposed.
Here is a video off what it looks like

I have seen this on Discus at the NADA shows. I have been told that treating with meds, PP etc can cause this. I do know that there is no way to fix it. I do see that the gill plate on this fish is a bit short making the white part of the gill more obvious.

Your discus are talking to you....are you listening
So previous owner must have treated it for some kinda gill problem? Is it safe to keep with my other discus?
It also could have been born like that. An incomplete gill cover. The loose skin/cover "could" be a the fishes way on trying to repair itself. I have had one of those incomplete gill plates and it looked the same.
Ive had the fish for some time and just did not have a way to post it. Will this effect breeding?
I every once in awhile feed foods with medication in just for good messure.
It also depends on whether the gill plate is a result of environment or genetics. If genetics, the breeder should have culled it. I would not breed this discus without knowing the cause of the short plate...
Thanks for the fast replys and help guys!
