    we used to tie some Bounce fabric dryer sheets on a button hole, and that kept the mosquitoes away.

    I second 2 of the products above. We have a real serious tick problem here, Ct.
    The pyretium product sprayed on your clothes works like magic. Not a tick on me.
    The only thing that works for me as far as the little black flys and mosquitoes is Skin so soft. Great.
    Plus it makes me smell good.LOL.

    When i travel up north i use to get attacked by sand flies. Like you i dont like smearing chemicals on my skin for any reason...even sun screen. I find the best way is to cover up your body the best way you can, and i even have used a fine mesh hanging over a brimed hat to protect my face.
