Default Wc and feeding schedule for 2.5 inch discus grow outs

I'll be getting my 10 2.5 inch discus on tuesday. They will be in a BB with driftwood 75 gallon with a 3.5 inch blue phantom pleco. Would a 60% water change every other day suffice with a 3x4 times a day feeding schedule?. Filtration is aquaclear 110, penguin 350 bio wheel altered packed with sponges, and a sponge filter rated for 75 gallons.

Also thinking 83 degrees for the tank. I've read that too high of temps can cause bacterial infections and other pathogens if water isnt pristine.

I am also receiving new Discus tomorrow, German Stendker Discus, from Discus Hans. He has extensive help online that I think would answer some of your questions. Here is the link: [URL="http://https://diskuszucht-stendker.de/en/Diskus-Handbuch/. If this link doesn’t work, just go to the Discushans.com site.

I have 10 similar size discus in a 40b tank. I'm pretty new to discus, but in my experience so far the tank gets dirty real quick. I'm doing about two quick vacuums of the bottom per day to keep droppings and left over food off the bottom, plus either a 50% or 90% water change per day, and sometimes thats not enough to keep the tank clean so I will do two large changes per day. It seems excessive but once you have those fish and you are feeding them a lot, you will get a feel for it. I can notice a very quick and significant change in the fishes color and activity level if I slack off on water changes.

I like your way, Ryan. You're watching the fish and letting them tell you what to do. Lots of food coupled with lots of WC with stable water is what makes the fish grow to their potential.

So luckily these guys came in way bigger than 2.5 inches. They actually are around 4-4.5 inches.

Click this button. You may have to resize your pictures to make the file size smaller if the files are too big.

The amount of work involved for 30%, 50% or 100% water changes is pretty much the same. The results, however, will be dramatically different. I'd go with 100%.

Very exciting!!! Do you mind letting us know who you got them from? Just keep in mind that with the larger discus come a larger bio load, so be prepared to at least 50%+ water changes per day a least until you are 100% comfortable with your routine. And soon to be 10 adult discus in a 75g can easily be overload !!

As far as posting photo's, I usually take them with my phone then email them to myself. The email process automatically resizes the photo to meet forum requirements...

I dont age my water so I'm scared to shock them with a 95% water change

Discus Madness. I had ordered discus from them years ago and everything went well.

That's why I'm only feeding 3-4 times a day and keeping temps at 84 prob lower it to 3 feedings once they get another inch on them.

10 is fine at the moment. I'll cut down to 7 or 8 when needed over time.

Hi Sandnukka15, switch to the full website version (vs the mobile). You will see an option for that at the bottom of the page.
