Intro and question
I have kept fish for about 30 years. One of my earlier tanks was with discus and I love them. Unfortunately the did not survive a move; either the stress or new water parameters. I want to set up an new 75 as a scaped discus tank. Now the question... I recently dug a juniper stump and would like to use it. I have stripped the bark and will leave it outside until next spring. Bad idea? I have read that new wood (less than a couple of years old will leach a lot of sap). Will submerging it in my pond over winter help with preparing it?

Re: Intro and question
Welcome to the forum!! I'm not sure about the Juniper. I know as plants, they lay down a toxin that keeps competitors from invading, but I'm not sure if it remains in the trunk after that long. I would do some good research before attempting

Re: Intro and question
I don't know either. You might ask on a planted tank forum if nobody here knows the answer.
