Default Who is more aggressive? Angelfish or Discus?

I used to have angelfish but then decided to do discus now. So far discus seem to not be as aggressive as angels from my experience. But I want to know other people's experience on which fish are more aggressive if they had angels and discus.

Angels are way more aggressive, I've had wild angels blind each other in sparring or tear their lips off. The Domestics can be just as nasty especially as adults.

I lost an albino dantum angel last week due to aggression. I have 4 pairs in a 76 gal. (had 4 pair) and when breeding last week a female got bitten up badly. Next morning, bloody torn fins and bottoms up. I watched it happen since it's right be my computer. Discus seem to take cover when one is more dominant, but angels will fight to the death or enough injury to cause the latter (like in this case). Meanwhile, prior to this, all was going well.

Well (4) pair in a 75fal was a tank ready for disaster anyway....it was just a matter of time....

    Wow... good to know.

I was so upset with my bully ones, always thought, "dang are you discus or piranha?"

Turns out, piranha are actually timid and don't fight each other lol.

I had 11 in there. Sold 3 cause they didn't pair off. They seem to get along better in larger groups rather than smaller groups or even with just 2 pair or just 3 fish. Most of the time they are very peaceful with each other as far as cichlids are concerned. With my experience I find if the groups are big enough there is a lot less fighting. I've had them for about 3 years and all was well. Things like that are expected to happen every now and then. I had four keyhole cichlids in a 25 gal. that I had to separate just a few weeks ago. A pair formed and the other 2 almost got killed by the other, so badly I didn't think they would survive but with clean water they came back in a few days.

I had a piranha set up about 12 years ago. I never thought of it before, you're right they don't fight amongst each other.
