noob question...Air volume for sponge filters
Hi all,
Noob question... how much air volume do you all run on your sponges? I have mainly used HOBs or canisters but recently bought sponges for my breeding tank(s) and not sure if i am pumping too much air to them.
Aquaneat Aquarium Air Pump up to 300Gal w/Two Outlets Ultra Quiet Oxygen Aerator Pump
Output: 2x125GPH, with 2 outlets; Power: 10W; Pressure: 0.03Mpa
BACTO-SURGE HIGH DENSITY FOAM FILTER (2-Pack)
I have both outlets connected to a 4-outlet Gang Valve and feeding to two sponges.
thanks,

what I want to know is... how much air is sufficient for it to work efficiently and not create too strong of a current/wave in the tank.

Re: noob question...Air volume for sponge filters
Put one sponge in for each tank turn the air down to med low on the 20 and med on the 55 then adjust as needed. You don't want a lot of current for Discus, just good surface movement.

Hi, if I seed another sponge filter from a cycled one, what are the chances of cross contamination?
thanks,
