    Default Swiss Tropicals Matten Filters

I highly recommend them but don't do what I did and waste a lot of time and electricity making DIY lifters.

Once I bought only a huge hunk of foam and make my own lifters. I had to switch from one Jehmco pump to the big Jehmco to it and two Medo filters. This time I bough the pre cut foam as well as a lifter from them. I was amazed at how much water that lifter could pump through. If I buy lifters for the 9 DIY lifters I spent so much time on I'll be able to go back to just one pump.

Liz I'm not quite following you cause I haven't seen what you're explaining. When you get a chance could you post some pics of how the lifters are connected to the pump? I thought the matter filters were all air driven...maybe they are and I still don't get it...dbl doh!#*?!

I'll try to 'splain it to you. All my fish room filters are air driven including the Matten filters. When I made my own lift tubes I used 1/2" PVC. It took 3 pumps to make them put out enough flow when my one Jehmco pump should have been able to do the job. The Swiss Tropical's lift tube is narrower. There is no opening at the bottom like my DIY ones. Instead they had a gazillion tiny holes drilled in them to allow the water in. They put out a ton of bubbles and water. They were hard for me to adjust them for as low a flow that this tank required. Mine are just pieces of 1/2" PVC with an open glued together. This is a link to theirs but the holes are too tiny to see. It makes for an unbelievably difference in efficiency. I'll take pics of them tomorrow for you, but it's one of those things you need so see to believe.

lol. The one I have is rated for 60 air devices but they have ones that service fewer. I can sell you one of my Medo's which is the same pump but runs just 20.

Here are a couple pics of the lifter parts that Liz was talking about. Definitely worth buying rather than DIY. They will push water all the way to the far end of a 40 breeder.CDD76D1F-82C1-46A0-B77F-C0C3AB8CF7FA.jpeg39B27B75-5818-4CEE-B3D0-5BE6C5156EE0.jpeg5D6B3E00-E6F6-4379-852A-24CCBEA05DE4.jpeg
