You have a great size tank and sound ready to go. We all battle the same at questions and issues. Itís def a gamble but I really hope the best for you! Excited to see yours grow. I need to make a post and we can watch the others group grow as time goes on
Thanks Philly! I'm all in on your new thread, and thank you so much for your well wishes. Some 1 week photos attached, all their skittishness is gone and they chase me around the tank. I had some moments where I wondered if the tank was too exposed, should I move it or should I try to block off the sides of the tank? But as always, patience is the key. Drastic reactions or change is never good in the fish hobby and patience is under valued. They get a little barred up when I stick a camera in their face, but I'm hoping with time that will fade as well. Before photos attached at the bottom.

~2 Month update. Thanks to the forum for the advice, I just figured out PMs so please forgive me if I'm just getting back to you. Also apologies for the scratches on the acrylic, previous inhabitant (years ago) was very aggressive and I wish I had polished the tank in retrospect. All of them have settled well and now focused on putting on some size!

About a 2 month update since their arrival, everyone is settled nicely now and we're working on putting on some size. Sorry about the scratched acrylic the last inhabitant (years ago) was a pretty aggressive cichlid

I'm in love with this tank! beautiful fish, beautiful scape, and I love the square tanks.

what substrate is that? and, are you considering putting java moss on the center piece? that would look amazing.

Thanks Dano! My secret weapon is a bristle nose to battle any algae. Otherwise everything goes green due to the tank getting hit with morning sun.

Thanks Aquatic! Kenny recommended them to me and he was spot on

Thanks Mando! I tried to keep it simple. The sand is Carib sea 'sunset gold'. I was looking for something neutral so as not to affect the discus coloration.

I hadn't considered Java moss on the wood, but I have some Phoenix moss in another tank. I'd have to look at their temperature rating to see if it could tolerate the higher temps, but could be a possibility!

I've got Java Moss growing on two of my pieces of driftwood in my tank. Temperature fluctuates according to my temperature controller by 1 degree - between 83 and 84. It grows just fine
