You know Armando, with those tetras in there you need more cover for the tiny babies. They're not much bigger than BBS when they're first born. The tetras will eat anything they can fit in their little mouths. I'll send you some Java moss, too.

Yes, the plan is to have a super dense background with the plants that I have. But, moss would definitely help. The ground cover will eventually cover the entire floor which also provides pockets for the small shrimplets. I just need to cut down the background plants and start compacting them on top of each other.

Is there any way you can get a close up that's sharp. I have no idea right now.

My phone sucks at close ups. They look Armadilliadiidae (Roly Poly) but with little antennas

I'd get them out. What ever they are they were not invited to your shrimp tank.

Liz! Thank you! I received my box today and her babies were very nicely insulated and packaged very well! Everyone survived! I got more shrimp and BN plecos than I deserve.

Try to find the little snots in the pics below! All big jumbo red shrimps are courtesy of momma bear!

I call the piece of wood, “The Claw”. It’s the size of the width of the tank and once the fern grows, it will provide enough out-of-sight cover for the shrimps.

Nice one Mando, tanks looks mint. Good on you Moma Bear for spreading the love this Thanksgiving. Your generosity is another good reason to be thankful and have a little faith restored in humanity!

Liz, do you see the little snots? Last photo, One albino is behind the annubia, sitting on the crypt. The other, if you take a look at the claw, the far right most finger/claw, you can see the black snot just above the java moss.

Dan, thank you! I'm trying to get the hang of the planted tank with this 30g before doing it to my discus tank. However, discus tank will be very simple. Super light sand, 5 cypress knees (cannot find it anywhere) covered in java moss, crypts at the base of each knee, and I'm still debating on the background.

1. Algae is almost gone. (went from 10hr to 7hr lights on)
2. Assassin snails whooped the pest snails ***.
3. Shrimp stop dying. (reduced ferts and lowered CO2)

surprisingly, my carpet started growing. I'm almost sure it was my new lights as the old light was very dim.

I'm glad that your so happy Armando. I'm really glad that I see some adult shrimp in the batch. The best I can do when catching shrimp is put in a big net and take a swipe along the Matten filter where they like to graze. I wound have never noticed the snots had you not told me where to look. They're so small that I worried about them surviving but I figured they weren't too small to give away.

So the tank is mostly covered in Monte carlo, but I also have a tiny little piece of baby tears that wasn't doing so well due to lighting. If you look at the chola wood, you will see the baby tears in front of it. It's grown with the new lighting and I'm starting to see roots travel. I did this to compare the two carpets and to see which one I would like better. I'd say in a low tech tank, the monte carlo is the way to go.
