As for diet, I'm not sure, but I'd like to think that it isn't.
They get frozen beefheart, bloodworms, tetra color granules, and occasionally I'll get some live blackworms from a LFS.
Thanks for all the great feedback! Much appreciated!
They hit the cone and roll down. It's a terrible pic, I admit, but you can see her going up the side and then the eggs just rolling down. This photo was taken during one of the previous spawning attempts.

Her ovipositor seems to make good contact...look at all those eggs in the bottom, yikes!
Good variety in the dirt as well...it's a mystery I hope someone can solve...

Poor fella, LOL
Discus can lay their eggs on just about anything. A beer or wine bottle will do. The outer membrane/shell casing isn't devoloped properly yet. Like mentioned above.
If this could be diet I'm not seeing any veggies, I would replace the tetra color granules with omega one super color discus pellets, while tetra is a old company the quality of their ingredients has diminished, mostly fillers, wheat flour, soybeans and what not, I try and think of what could the fish find in the wild ,flour and soybeans I don't think so, call me weird but I would try the change if nothing else you'll be getting some veggies in them any thing is worth a try.

Great suggestion. I reviewed the ingredients of the omega one pellets you reccomend and the tetra granules. I'm not biologist, but the number of things I can't rightly pronounce is through the roof on the tetra granules. The omega pellets ingredient list is shorter by a significant margin. I'll give them a shot. Thanks!
You could also try Tropical Wild gran. My domestics love it.
I don't use any, but some hatcherys use them. The wine bottles have a better slope than beer bottles. Here is a google with eggs attacted to a bottle.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcce3Wbonzc This is what I found on the outer layer of fish eggs, that might help shed some light. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/...50009809386857
As far as using bottles, I have use Calistoga
bottles just add fine sand in the bottle and replace the screw top. The sand adds weight
so the Discus can't move the bottle.

I'll give it a shot soon! The omega one pellets arrived today and I added them into the rotation.
That was an interesting read! I'm guessing that the attaching filaments referenced there are the missing link (pun intended) when it comes to my female's egg production.
That's a clever way to cut down on costs, for sure!
