Is this discus stunted?

Is my red melon discus suppose to look like this? Wondering your opinions. He/she is only 3". Will he/she grow out rounder as it grow older?
Looks a tad but oval. Recently bought it at a local fish store. It look pretty round and healthy in store but when i took it home it look like this. Overall eats well, good eye to eye ratio, etc. Just the shape is a bit oval. Any thoughts?20191110_195520.jpg20191110_195500.jpg20191110_195427.jpg

Donny I agree with your assessment, overall it's a healthy looking fish with vibrant colors but the shape is, as you say, ovalish. This is a generalized statement, but most discus that end up at an LFS are the left overs. I don't think the fish is stunted, and with lots of clean water and high quality protein might round out some more under the chin area, but it is in the later part of it's accelerated growth phase and the overall shape has pretty much been established at this point.

Ditto! Not so much stunted as it is just less than desirable quality. However, it's better and healthier than a lot of LFS stuff I see, and better than even some full retail sellers we've talked about
