Default Freeze dried Blackworms making water cloudy

My Australian freeze dried black worms make my water cloudy. It always has and I'm just wondering if this is a common thing and what do folks do if anything to minimize this.

    Thanks,

I press Australian FDBW w spinach cubes from Al against the glass and I have never noticed any clouding Filipe.
Do you use loose or cubes? What size tank are you feeding? You could try rehydrating them in a container of tank water and then squeeze the liquid out before putting the worms in your tank...

Hi danotaylor, I use cubes just blackworms no pigment or spinach I divide the cubes and stick them to the glass I'm currently feeding my community fish in my 90 gallon tank. I use it as treat and feed them the blackworms a few times a week. I'll try re hydrating them. It eventually clears up I'm just wondering why I'm getting this problem.

Hmmm, that's really weird mate. Since starting with the cubes late last year I have found them to be quite a clean feed. I am still using cubes from the same batch I began with though as I have the 1kg bag...

Yeah you can see a cloud of dust spew from the cube as soon as its squeezed to the glass. I'll try to post a picture of it the next time I feed them

    Hi Mate,

Have to agree with Dan's experience. I have found them to be the cleanest of foods to feed, apart from maybe pellets.

How long has the tank been established. Sounds like a slight cycle issue. Cloudy water usually means a lack of one or another B Bacteria.

Hi planter, I think you are simply feeding to much of the FDBWs. Is there leftover worms floating at the surface of the water after the initial feeding?

Hi Pat. The water gets cloudy after 4-5 mins. I'll try to post a picture of it soon. I'm going to feed them soon

Here is a picture and sorry for the quality photography is not my thing. You can see that there is some fluid running down from the cube. You can start seeing this a few minutes after the cube is placed. If the fish don't eat all of it right away the tank really gets cloudy after 20 mins if I don't remove it.

Hi. Filipe, you could try cutting the cube in half.

I have never had a problem with cloudiness from the worms, but I admit, those streaks below the cube look unusual. How old are your cubes? How do you store them? Did you get them from Al?

Not from Al. I bought them from a local store. I bought the cubes about a month back and they have been doing that since day one. I keep them stored in a cabinet in my living room. They come packed in a ziplock style resealable pouch. I close it after every use.

I keep mine in a freezer. I would just take the loss and get some from Al.
