Are vent tubes always visible on discus similar to angels

I always notice them in mine.

Jeanne I have never kept angels but the 2 spawning discus females I have had had a protuberant ovipositor. In both females it only dropped on the day of the spawn. With other CA/SA cichlid's I have bred the ovipositor was visualized a day, sometimes 2, before the actual spawn.

Weird, I'm 100% my three blue diamonds have them visibly exposed and I see some flirting going on but never seen any pairing up.
