They are tough as in a weak strain and for some unknow reason aggression more so then the other color varieties .
I told to the dark rams is like the first double black angels and the fry and even adult fish will grow slower and be weaker . Many said the EBR was very weak when first created ?
They are way more trouble for me and the most aggressive rams I have ever seen .Anything from black for me [ gold ,black ,and darks ] have been extremely aggressive on a hit and miss pattern ..You just can't tell..
They are either the best parents going just about or homicidal maniacs .The gold male I recently sent Discusluv just killed its mate while still tending the eggs ! I got no explanation for these fish .Before the blacks came in my fish room ram murder was maybe once a year ...

We have fry again. They hatched today midday or so. Appears to be about 30/40 fry. The parents are doing very well with the fry and each other. They are way more protective and take turns guarding the fry. I already see a few of fry do a little swimming. It is not very coordinated but I feel good about this spawn. The fry seem stronger, the parents have been conditioned on live blackworms and BBS. The BBS is cooking for the fry and the water is clean. Lets see what tomorrow brings.

Thank Tom, question for you. Will the parents gather the fry into one area? I thought the parents might be eating the fry but suspect they were rounding them up. They were quite busy this morning looking under stuff but now they are quiet.

Indeed they do Tom. If you watch the video it appears many of the fry are attached to something when they swim. I did add a little bit of the tiny BBS they need from the last batch I made and I had frozen some. Do you think that they are eating the BBS?

I broke out the macro len and you can see the little dark dot with many of the fry.
