That's an amazing transformation. It's what's supposed to happen but It didn't look like there was much hope of that much improvement over that time period.

His pattern has expanded so nicely. Love the red dots inside the white patches. Mate, if you could develop a strain that has a bright red dot inside each/most white patches that would rival the ring gene fish for sure. If you have a spare 15 yrs you could get to work on it! Fun times mate!

Hai Koon Red Valentine in 2011 was selling $800 each.....someone bought six of those red fish from Kenny.

Working on it, 25 spawns and counting One day, fish and I will get this right. Time and patience is all I have.

This is how I remember how the ring Discus
looks around 20 years ago. Golden Gate Discus bought some back from
the Ring Discus breeder in Malaysia. They
were around $45 for 3 1/2 inches landed fully ring
pattern already.

I remember the first time I saw them in a discus specialty store in Taipei. I mentioned to the owner that those were the biggest spots I've ever seen on a discus. He suggested I take a closer look - then I realized that they were rings. They were more expensive then, but affordable. Unfortunately, that strain has been seldom seen in the trade since.
