I would try live blackworm and brineshrimp
Jeanne
My fry are 5 wks. old. I removed the parents 2 wks. ago and for about 2 days
they wondered about looking for the parents and food.
I started sticking small pcs. of fdbw to the glass and after about a day they
they found them and now they attack my finger when I'm sticking the fdbw on.
I would like to start them on another food, prime reef flakes ground up fine, but I know it's going to take
several days to get them to accept it.
Question - Are they too young to do this considering they would probably go 2 or 3 days
without food before they got the idea that it is food. I'm worried that it might affect their
growth.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks
Jay

What if you wet the cube and stuck some of the fine ground flake food to the outside of it before pressing it onto the glass? That would give them the taste of the flake as they enjoy the black worm cube and maybe make the transition smoother...
Try some beefheart shaving as they grow larger you can cut chunks. Make daily waterchanges for faster growthrate.

At that age it should not take them too long to try other foods. Try to crush the flakes and hold it for a few seconds in the water before releasing so it sinks slowly. I would personally feed what you are planning to feed as adults just so it's easier later on.
Thank you all for your help.

Brady, are you still feeding BBS? If you read thru the growout thread we found that feeding BBS (until two inches or so) really help with growth rate and rounding the fry out a bit.
