    Default Adding garlic to water

    Hi,
How helpful/harmful is it to add a piece of live garlic into the discus tank for 24 hours or so?

It won't harm them but it will not help either. If you're going to use garlic add it to the fish's' food.

I have never fallen for garlic ..I note my tropical D-Allio Plus food smells of garlic .
If I were to add anything [I do !] it would be orange peel like in the Reef To rainforest article .

I may be getting know as crazy here so I will share how I have taken this one step farther ..Some of us have to push !
I add orange extract when I make water changes to my soft water fish [discus and rams] ..Not a lot as I may be the only one so I am exploring .
I have no clue of a conversion for orange peel or garlic cloves to gallon ?
I add 1 drop of orange extract to 20g water when changed for tank volume ..
Just me but my fish eat and eat !
