Breeding and all! what a great group of fish. They look stunning.
Winnie, so they only eat BH once a day?

GlssixGlssi what do get any body know
My guess would be mostly Albino GLSS...but it's a semi educated guess lol![]()
They are both GLSSI no albino Genetics
You need to ask the supplier what they are intermediates of. That will be the recessive gene. So if both of yours are intermediate, then they are half Dominant gene half recessive gene, D-r. Mathmatically, Dr x Dr would produce 25% rr, the recessive type, 25% DD the dominant type, and 50% Dr, like you have.
So how are the fry doing ? Great looking fish![]()
The "I" means intermediate, which means 1 parent is albino. I thought that 2 intermediates produced mostly albino offspring, but I have no experience, just recalling what I thought I read here somewhere...![]()
I just presented basic Mendelian genetics ideas, nothing fancy. Google "punnett square" for more info. Intermediates mean they have some other dominant gene that is presenting itself (phenotype?), but they have the recessive gene also (genotype?). Strains have gotten so mixed it could be hard to say.
I just realized this is Winnie's Discus' sponsor section. Maybe post in the breeding section if you want to continue, or we could even move the conversation.

Thank you guys for your help I really appreciate it and also Steve if you want to move it to the breeding Section it’s OK with me I’m ready to learn
Great explanation, first of, thank you! The recessive gene is the Golden, Steve. What you said was also true Isaac, there is no albino in them as far as I know. The word intermediate is to address the golden gene here. "I" doesn't always mean it is Albino, Daniel. Like Steve mentioned, it is used for recessive gene. It's best to ask the supplier what "I" is for however "I" in GLI or GLSSI will always stand for Golden genes.
