Hi James. Please go to this thread and copy the questionnaire into a new thread and fill it out as best you can. This will help diagnose your issue and d possibly discover the root of the issue as well.
It does look like a bacterial sore of some sort so I would add salt at 5tbsp/10gal for the time being and get that questionnaire filled out.
If you don't have salt already buy this from Home Depot for $7 and it will last you 50 yrs...a lot cheaper and just as effective as "aquarium" salt
