Default Any sponsors/vetted importers offering Corydoras Sterbai?

As title states, I’d like to check around if any vendors are breeding or importing quality healthy Corydoras sterbai, especially in southern CA area of at all possible.

Always looking to support the team first.

I'm looking as well. Wish I could find someone here breeding them.

Was it Martha who was doing that? I remember the name, but don't really know her.

I got a buddy in NJ who is sitting on like 50 from his last spawn months ago and has stopped .
They are difficult fish to ship as they tend to poison themselves ? He tried to ship some to a buddy in Ohio and they did not make it so he is not into shipping them at all..
Anybody know any real tricks to shipping them ? I plan on bringing him some Bolivian ram soon for a late Christmas present and I am sure he would hook me up .He always ask ..

Martha quit breeding them. There as some choices on Aquabid right now. They would be a fun breeding project, don't you think? Discus people love them.

Ive received several groups of wild corydoras from Wetspot out of Portland over the years. No losses in shipping.
But, to get to you in impeccable shape you will pay a premium with next day before 10:30 am shipping-- just like discus.

Some people are not willing to pay this much for shipping and buy from less reputable sources who do not know about the issues/risks in shipping with particular fish.
Wetspot has it down to a science.

Wetspot is where I got mine. And they're west coast (Portland).

How many are you looking for?

If you don't mind pond raised sterbai, then I'd recommend Aquastock on Aquabid. I've purchased them from him in the past with good results. Currently have three dozen of them in a 110 gal tank. If you want larger quantities than what's posted on the auctions, I'd suggest you email him directly for a bid. They've come into my fishroom at very reasonable prices.

Tank raised sterbais will come in smaller (1.5" - 2") vs wild caught ones (~2.5") which tend to be adults. I've imported wilds in the past, but experienced heavy casualty rates because they poke each other with their spines. Any fish that gets poked will eventually die. Also if you want F0's, be prepared to import an entire box.

    Good luck with this, Willie

Thanks, Willie. It's good to know where to go to buy a new type fish. When the time comes, it will be Aquastock for me.

Thank you for all the updates. I will wait for a local wholesale to have them in stock.

I raised a lot of them for a while there, but the bottom dropped out of the market so I stopped. I shipped using USPS two-day priority mail and I never had any problems doing it. I fasted them for a day and shipped them two to a bag with oxygen and 72 hour heat packs. Someone is selling them on Aquabid six for $30...I can't be bothered at that price.

Oh yes. I downsized quite a bit though. The electric bill was outrageous.

I hate to think about what power up north must cost. I don't have to use heaters except to bump up the temp in my Discus. I've downsized quite a bit myself, but I'm starting to have interest in breeding other fish. All my dang tanks are large tanks intended for Discus grow out.

You could always get some plexiglass cut to the width of your longer tanks Liz and silicone some dividers in to make smaller sections for whatever you want to breed. If need be, you can easily remove them later...
