Thread: Redo Rose Discus

  1. #1

    Default Redo Rose Discus

I have a question, I've been eyeballing some red rose discus which I think are totally awesome looking and my question is from what I know a true red rose comes from a brown base, what would the cross be and would they be considered turqs or pb

I'm not sure what your question is. How were they developed or what will they produce? If you really want to add to some confusion, here's a decent thread from the old days. Some opinions are speculation but it gives a basic understanding of how the strain was developed and what to expect from regular breeding. No PB's are involved...

Can you share your answer? I would like to know as I'm interested in this particular strain.

What I learned or I think I learned is that a true brown base red rose discus is a turq and totally cool looking

Now that I learned the answer I was able to figure out the question. Yes, it's a good cross. It would likely make the turks come out with a deeper red.

Nice fish. Breeding quality, for sure. How about a pic of the male.

    Thanks Liz.
    Hi Jeanne,
They look like nice fish, I went to their website, too. I'm wondering what you are after. If that supplier is close to you and you can go see them, then that could be a good deal for you. If you need shipping anyway, there are rose reds out there for basically the same price with a red face and no eyeline, and from sponsors here.
