You'll have fun with the Plecos although the Zebras are known to mostly hide during the day.
So the compromise is that I was allowed to set up a 40 gal tank to breed zebra plecos. Set it up right before the plague started and now staring at a beautifully aquascaped tanks with multiple small pleco caves. There are 9 little guys that are always hiding. Rarely see.
Shoulda just bit the bullet.
BTW the reason she put a halt is shes seen me go overboard with fish. Multiple tanks, thousands on SPS corals, exotic fish. Really got into the wilds when they were first brought in thru Hans - and they were not cheap. So, I kinda get it. We discus lovers are a bit nutty.

Mama Bear
Nice on the zebras !
My 9 [used to be 10 ]stay in the caves most of the time so I added a pair of rams to their tank to liven things up .
Another year or two and I hope to see some action..
Such a great looking fish that really does hide an awful lot ..
Good luck with them .
I would ask for pics but I had to take pictures of mine when I moved them from one tank to another or I might not ever get a good shot !
This has turned out to be a funny thread ..
Glad you got that sorted and have a new tank to keep you busy whilst waiting out the storm!
Can you post a pic of your 40gal Capt?
I’ll try today. But doubt I can get the plecos to cooperate
You mentioned staring at a beautifully aquascaped tank so a full tank shot of your aquascape is what I'm asking
so I wore her down and just ordered a nice setup. Allowed a small corner of my sun room and not allowed to block any windows so its an unusual shape. 36 long, 36 deep and 30 high. Takes a month or two to make and ship but very nice Fathers Day Compromise.
I see this is not a brand new thread but still current so I am going to throw in my 2 cents........
Been married now for 43 years!
To the same woman!
My advise.............
Buy her a goat or even goats and she will let you get what ever you want!
Trust me on this

P.S. I like the dimensions of your new tank. It is wonderful to have a lot of room front to back. They just make aquariums too thin that way. My new one is 36x30x24. 30" is a lot better than the normal 18".
Glass or acrylic?

You know, Vinnie, I told a like story about a month ago about a Corvette that I bought but told the wife that it was a Camaro, they are less expensive. That went well for about a year. I came home one day the wife announced that she bought a dog. I asked to see said dog. Turns out she was out playing in the pasture. I viewed the dog, returned to the house, told the wife that her dog was large enough to ride on. "I know!", she said. "And the bonus is that she eats grass!" I guess the point is, Vinnie, you can fool them, or at least you think you fooled them.
21 Discus, 7 Green Tree Frogs, 3 Eastern Dwarf Tree frogs, 1 Coastal Carpet Python,6 sawshelled/Murray river turtles, 2 dogs, a cat, 2 kids and a wife. Phew...what a mouthful

I did the same this week. I had fish coming from Kenny on Tuesday. My son, Little Rickey, is one in the house who gets bent when I get a fish. As it turned out the fish was to arrive on his birthday. So I made sure that he got a present before the Fed Ex arrived and he has been wanting a dish washer. He researched it for days and found the best deal with all the options. I for months had been resisting spending the money for the new washer. But the weekend before the fish I finally broke down and told him to order the washer. It was elaborate I know but the subtle trade-offs kind of worked.
How many goats per fish tank are required ?
I have 50 tanks but am looking at expanding ..
Will I need a barn ?
So after months of waiting the new tank has arrived. My wife limited an area of our den that could only fit a 3 foot long tank. So now I have a 3 foot cube - 1 inch acrylic. Just added the sand and water and now will wait a few weeks before I transfer.
I'll be moving my 8 jumbo discus plus the corys and the plecos. My question to those with large tanks - how often and how much of a water change routine should I need to keep them happy. I grew them up with 80% every other day but I hope I can dramatically reduce the size and frequency.
Filtration is via a tank length All In One Sump system and I have an Algae turf scrubber.
Just buy what you want and tell her "The tank stays!"
I have plenty of room downstairs if you need a place to stay.
