Default Python and WC out to the yard

I would like to WC with my Python out to the yard instead of to the sink. It is downhill from the tank except for the final 8-10' of level ground (patio) to reach the plant bed. Total distance tank to plant bed is about 25'.

What is the best way get the water going?

    - Suck start?
    - Manual squeeze siphon?
    - Electric pump?

I don't really want to stick a pump in the tank, so I would prefer the siphon means to be outside the tank. thanks for ideas.

I'm with you on the pump. I've questioned the suck method, but that's what I use. I have a length of hose that I use to do my cleaning and changes, about 8', but i do a quick suck start and then push it quickly into a much longer length of hose that I can send to where i want. As long as it eventually reaches it's lowest level, it flows fine.

PS: My initial length is basically looped once, so 8' is not really that long when reaching into a large tank.

I agree, if the water is going down hill I find it way easier to just suck on the hose. You'll be able to feel in your mouth from the air that comes first if you have a good siphon going.

BYW, folks on other forums have gotten on my case for sucking but it's hasn't hurt my health in the least.

this is how i do it with my python.
with the vacuum tube attached, close the valve, ( i placed a stop valve between the vacuum tube and hose) fill tube up with tank water from inside tank, lift up vacuum tube and hose so that water in the tube goes down the hose then turn the vacuum tube into the tank water and open up the valve gravity will pull tank water through the hose, no sucking required.

I actually do it that way a lot of the time. It really is a great way.
