I know, it's almost unrecognizable! I didn't even get to see his true pattern for a few months until he became more comfortable and dropped his bars. Congrats on your fish, I think you'll be really happy with them, Kenny never disappoints!

Is it typical for all turquoise or barred discus to "drop their bars" once they reach maturity? Or are the bars simply a sign of stress? Asking because I think the barred look is kind of attractive and I'd like my discus to retain them.

In this case he was just stressed. As everyone was figuring out their territory he was sort of odd man out for a while. Once he found his place the bars have stayed away.

Super cool to see the difference. I have a soft spot for TT as well. I have one now who is 2yrs old & BIG! Kenny's the best! Your Discus are just gorgeous! Thanks for the share.
