Anubias Macro Deficiency

Hello, hope you guys can advise:

• 55 Gallon
• Six 4-5" discus - no other fish
• 3x/Day feedings
• 86 degrees
• 75% WC 2x/Wk
• pH 7.0
• 1/4 - 1/2" pool filter sand substrate
• No other plants besides anubias
• No CO2 and no ferts currently

Attached pics are of the suffering Anubias Heterophylla. Smaller anubias like nana and petites do not show these symptoms.

• These anubias superglued to river rocks, rhyzomes and roots above substrate
• Anubias came from immersed environment into immersed environment
• Was using Purigen for tannin removal/polishing, but removed it a few days ago

Have done a lot of reading online to diagnose yellowing/browning of anubias...signs point to N-P-K deficiency of some kind. Perhaps iron. I am evidently removing too many macros with WCs.

If nitrogen deficiency, I'm worried about adding N to a discus tank.

Thoughts on diagnosis and remedies? Thanks guys.

I just want to hear what others say ..
My plants are sacrificial for my fish .They get nothing .
They last long enough for me and I never heard the fish complain even if the plants were not the prettiest.

Agree.

I'm not trying to run some big high-tech planted effort. Just a little greenery with some bulletproof warm-water plants. Or so I thought bulletproof.

Purigen is pulling all the nitrates out of the water. Can't have pristine water and nutrients for the fish in the same tank.

+1 with Willie, plus anubias typically don't transplant well and take some time to rebound, the older leaves yellow and die off and they usually then produce new growth. Is there any signs of new leaves emerging from the rhizome?
How long have you had them in your tank? Was it local transport or shipped?
