Default Should I start with salt?

I've been pretty lucky and haven't had to treat my fish for much until now. This is my male Tiger Turk. He developed this near the end of rearing a batch of fry. Between all the BBS and just timing, I suspect he caught a bacterial infection. Acting totally fine (wants to spawn again) but I'd like to fix this. I'm keeping up with water changes, and nobody else in the tank seems affected. What are your thoughts? If you think I need something stronger than salt, please give me your recommendations, since I haven't really treated for this before. I think I'd like to have something available.

Maybe I need a better pic to get some response. I'll work on it.

What could this be? Is this a type of fin rot?

I'd go with a good heavy dose of salt first. I'm not the salt expert. Brian will have to tell you how much. If that doesn't help Furan II would be my next choice.

Steve when I had a serious issue in my tank and had lost fish suddenly overnight Brian recommended 1tbsp/1gal. It seemed extreme but the discus tolerated it, and it worked. I didn't need antibiotics and lost no more fish. I kept the concentration at the higher dose with wc's for 1 week, then gradually reduced the concentration over 2 more weeks back to 0 salt.
Brian typically suggest 5-7tbsp/10 where there's a definite need but not critical dosing as in my situation. But the discus will tolerate a lot of salt. I do not know what the issues with your fishes fins are caused by but salt will reduce/kill bacteria and reduce the bacterial load in your tank, and not harm your BB either.
    Hope this helps mate.

I think a high dose of salt is not necessary. Keep up your good water routine and about 4-6 TBS per 10g should be ok, but keep an eye on it.

Although I don't use salt that often, when I do it's for cases just like this one. Even at 1:1 discus take it very well...

Thanks guys. I'll try the 4-6 TBS/10 gal for a week and see what happens. Including water changes and replacing salt.

So, it's been a month. Sorry to take so long. I could have posted a similar pic over a week ago. Here's the look today. Nothing but clean water and salt. I really only did about 2 TBS per 10 gallons.
