    Default Levamisole

Hi Everyone - so the plan is to treat my new guys with Levamisole in another couple of weeks. I've had a rough experience in the past treating with meds.. Those fish were sick however. Having a new, healthy batch of fish, i'm just a little paranoid to deworm these guys... Can anyone ease this fear? Has anyone lost healthy fish from deworming with Levamisole?

    Thank you all

As long as you dose correctly you should be just fine. Be prepared to not see them eat for a couple of days following treatment...

information from Charles Harrison at: http://www.inkmkr.com/Fish/ItemsForSale.html, about levamisole.

Discus keepers keep their water too warm for Levamisole treatment also. Nothing over 78F until it's over. It really stresses the fish and they are already in enough stress. He also said: Levamisole is the absolute best for deworming Discus, it is the only Nematode cure which doesn't have to be eaten and it kills the intestinal parasites from the inside tissues of the fish. No other medication will do that.

Levamisole HCl is light sensitive. Store product in tightly closed, light resistant containers. Leave off tank lights or UV lighting when treating.......also need a digital gram scale and this is what I got Jennings JSR-100......https://www.oldwillknottscales.com/j...s-jsr-100.html

Charles is the man for levamisole or flubendazole [another absorbed med for non eating fish] .
He responds to emails and knows what to do .
I keep both of the meds from Charles in my medicine stock.
On the link posted if you go back to fish page there is more treatment info .

Where do you buy your flubendazole, Tom? I used to get it from England but last time I looked it wasn't available even from there.

I just got some less then a month ago from Charles ..
A clown fish in my 180 I got at the Aquatic Expo last fall [from Beitals] has wasting disease..
Charles recommended I remove the fish and treat in a hospital tank of 20 g but I am never going to catch this poor guy !

    Flubendazole 10 % powder
Postage is to increase in 2020 soon.
Best for eliminating Hydra. Treats protozoa wasting disease, serious treatment for Velvet, enternal and external parasites, 1/4 teaspoon of 10 % powder
treats about 20 gallons of water for most parasitic Protozoa. Eliminate Carbon filtration during treatment. Change most of the water after 10 days.
Will not harm plants, Prolonged use will kill most all snails. ........
Isn't someone here trying to treat velvet and using salt ?

Yes. You can find the thread in the Emergency section yourself. Flubendasol will not do a thing for Velvet. I recommended Furan II. It does great for worms and does a good enough job on flukes.

If you don't want to posted a link to where I can buy it here please send PM me a link to where I can order it. I love that med. It's margin of safety is huge.

Just a question? Why would you deworm discus bought from a well known breeder? Is it that they may have gotten worms in your possession?
