    Dark backgrounds generally can cause discus to be darker, trying to blend in, so usually avoided.

    Can 6 juvis in a 55g all grow to 6"+ (assuming a perfect world)?

    Yes, and it also depends on the species of Disus. I've got 4 near 7", 1 at 6", and one at 5" (a Heckel that is not growing very fast) grown from 4 to 5 1/2 inches in a 30 gallon tank. I purchased 2 Alenquer (wild) and the Heckel at the same time about 7 months ago. Except for the Heckel the other two are at least 60% larger than when I got them. I don't think the world has to be perfect either. With religious water changes, good food, adequate filtration, and decent water chemistry you can do it.

    I know of suppliers in Houston, but I don't know of any reputable ones.
