    In general, we hear that Nitrates are not really harmful for fishs... But it can cause serious troubles to our discus fish...

    I don’t know. First we change our water so much how would nitrates grow? Next I’ve never heard that nitrates can become nitrite. I always thought nitrites by product was nitrate. And yes new fish would struggle in a tank with high nitrates. But that’s also because the waters not being changed. With the water changes I do in all my tanks I never test my water. And if you have high nitrates in your tap water it should be removed before going into your tank. So I never worry about nitrate. But hey that’s me.
