Default Freeze dried Blood worms or Freeze dried black worms

    Hello everyone,

The search online for FDBW got me to get freeze dried BLOOD worms. To test it, I borrowed some from a friend and my discus really liked it. I dont know how good is it to feed them? So asking your recommendation. The website from where my friend bought mentions,

    Nutritional content:
    1: The lowest protein 55%
    2: Fat minimum 3%
3: Crude fiber up to 5%
4: Rich in a large number of natural vitamin E

    Alternatively,
Can someone recommend a seller for FDBW (blackworms) who ships (at a reasonable cost) to Germany. or fellow discus enthusiast who are from Germany/EU, where do you get your FDBW from?

    Thanks,
    Saif

I feed frozen blood worms regularly to my rams and discus ..When they are not eating FDBW .
Kind of new to discus but been feeding the rams for years without issue .
I think besides the possibility of some bacteria or pathogen being introduced the blood worms aren't good is a fish keeping myth.
Clearly some fish should not be fed bloodworms regularly and in the same right some are just fine with them ..
What do I know though ?

None of my fish like the freeze dried blood worms but if your fish like them, they are safe to feed. I doubt that you will find freeze dried black worms in Germany. Y'all are high on beef heart over there from what I understand.

I read years ago that a steady diet of bloodworms can cause hith. I do feed both frozen and freeze dried. But only once or twice a week. As to the black worms I buy mine from here and they’re Australian worms. So don’t they ship to Germany?

Al, the SD forum owner imports them from Australia and sells them in the states. Here's his link.

I think you'd need to find an importer near you. Al might have some ideas there.

I've fed both and find them both good food for fish. Dried blood worms are much cheaper and that's a factor for me. Both offer the the same nutrient but black worms are a bit more fat content. If I feed blood worms for a few days, it seems to condition them for breeding behavior. Blood worms can also cause allergic reactions from the protein, to humans with the allergy, much like peanuts.

Do you mean that humans can react by handling the FDB(lood)W or that the fish have a reaction?
